First Day of School
Monday, January 5, 2009
The first day of school, especially a new school is always hard and being the daughters of the president -elect, it must be just has hard. Malia and Sasha Obama started school in DC today, as their father gets prepared to take the office of presidency January 20th. They both will be attending Sidwell Friends School.
Today Michelle Obama dropped of Malia, 10 a fifth grader at Sidwell’s DC campus. Then headed off to the school's Bethesda site to drop off Sasha, 7, a second grader. The first daughters already have friends at the school, as Vice-president elect Joe Biden has grandchildren there. They all bonded on the campaign trail. The Obamas chose Sidwell in part because of its past experience with presidential kids, including Chelsea Clinton. Michelle Obama has said she's striving for some sense of normalcy in her daughters' lives, another selling point for Sidwell.
Both daughter will have a secret service team present at all time. While Chelsea Clinton was at Sidwell, her secret service team dressed down to fit in and they even had their own office at the school.
To the Obama girls, Good Luck in DC!
