The Holy Month Begins

It’s here once again, when Muslims all over the world spend 30 days fasting. It is a time in which they refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and indulging in anything that is in excess or ill-natured; from dawn until sunset.

During this month of Ramadan, fasting begins everyday at dawn, their first meal is eaten before sunrise and they stay away until the sunset. During the months of summer, the fasting day can last until 8pm.
It is during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar when Muslim fast for the sake of God and pray more than usual. This time of fasting is to ask for forgiveness of past sins and, pray for guidance from evil and for the strength to continue to do good in life.

This month is Holy because it was the month in which the Qur’an was first revealed to the Prophet Mohammad. It is also a month in which Muslims all over fellowship with God for guidance. To all those fasting, like my Father and brother, good luck and may your month be fulfilled and your fellowship with the Lord find you peace and purpose.
