It was June 3rd 2008 and the United States welcomed it first African-American Presidential Nominee for the Democratic Party. The junior Senator from Illinois Barak Obama secured the party nomination and passed the 2118 delegate needed. History was made, as a black American stood on a stage and said “I will be your nominee”. It was said that only in this great country can a story like Obama’s happen and it did. It is a big step for this country in having its first black presidential nominee, the country has spoken and now we must take the next step in choosing the next President of the United States.
This story began on a cold February day on the Old State Capitol building in Springfield, Illinois, Obama announced his candidacy for President of the United States. With a great deal of obstacles in front of him, but he kept on and ran this race as best as he could and in the end, he saw the results he was hoping for; since day one. It was said that he had no experience, he’s too young, he has done nothing for this country, and the biggest obstacle that was against him was the color of his skin. But despite all of this he held his composure and ran like he never ran before and it was a priceless moment for Obama supporters and Obama himself as he got on that stage in Minnesota and said to the country that “this win was very humbling”.
Obama got 2158 delegates, including superdelegates.
