As of today, there are only 7 days left until the general election. After 2 years of campaigning, both Senators Obama and McCain will have their final face-off, hoping to get at least 270 electoral votes.
November 4th, will be the 56th consecutive quadrennial United States presidential election. This election has many first and will be viewed as one of the most historic of our time. It is the first time an African-American is running for a major party. McCain is the oldest candidate to run for president. Both are sitting Senators and both were born outside the continental U.S, Obama in Hawaii and McCain on the Panama Canal Zone. It is the first time a woman (Sarah Palin) has been chosen to run on the Republican ticket as Vice- President and Joe Biden would be the first Catholic Vice President if elected.
This election could go two ways, neck and neck or one candidate could win by a landslide, but from the looks of it, it could be neck and neck. Remember the polls are not always right and what we see on TV is not always the case. Obama is leading, but so did Al Gore and John Kerry, and George Bush still took the White House.
Next Tuesday history will be made, no matter who wins. So go out and VOTE for the candidate that you feel will help this country find its way back to being the Super Power of the world.
