Massive Earthquake Shakes up Chile

At about 3:30 EST, a massive 8.8 earthquake rocked the South American country of Chile, causing tsunami warnings for most of the Pacific coast including Hawaii.

The tsunami warnings including the areas of South America, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and many other Pacific islands. A tsunami advisory is in effect for the western coast from California to Washington State.

Reports have stated that Hawaii will be hit by one of the first tsunami, the huge wave is expected to hit the pacific island around 11:00am HST. Alarms will sound off around 6:00am HST for all islanders to take cover and prepare for what could be a catastrophe.
Although the world is waiting patiently to see what will be Hawaii’s fate, the Robinson Crusoe Islands, about 400 miles off the Chilean coast has already been hit by a huge wave.
The quake hit 200 miles southwest of the capital, Santiago killing about 100 people, but officials say the death toll will rise within the day. Within the last several hours, 11 aftershocks were felt, all surpassing 6.0 magnitudes.
This quake is 1,000 more powerful than that of what Haiti experience last month.
