Today Dubai will open the world’s tallest building, with a financial meltdown and all.
The tower is 828 meters, or 2717 feet, tall is made out of metal and glass, and it will be the home to luxuary apartments and offices. It cost 1.5 billion to build with four swimming pools, a private library and a hotel designed by Giorgio Armani. Called the Burj Khalifa., it is twice the height of NY’s Empire State Building
The Burj began in 2004 and is named after Khalifa Bin Zayed, the president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi.
The structure moved along rapidly, with new floors being added every two to three days, it has 168 floors and will be inaugurated today.
